Environment & sustainability

  • SUSTAINABility through INNOVATION

Kalle is committed to continuous innovation not only for the sake of our customers. By rigorously improving technologies and processes, we are also helping to protect the environment and develop a sustainable economy.

    • Kalle has invested heavily in the development of an integrated environmental, recycling and waste management concept that covers our manufacturing processes. Wherever possible, we collect production waste within the respective process and recycle it immediately. Regeneration baths, for example, are fed back into the production process via an evaporation stage. Waste water is recycled in a modern biological treatment plant in the Kalle-Albert Industrial Park.

Through these and other measures, we have increased energy efficiency and productivity while also conserving natural resources. Our environmental concept is widely regarded as a model for the future and makes us a benchmark for the industry worldwide.

    Eco-friendly products

When developing new products we are also careful to ensure that they have a positive impact on the environment. A prime example is the Kalle sponge cloth, which is used in almost every household as well as a diverse range of industries.

    Renewable raw materials
Kalle sponge cloths are made exclusively from renewable raw materials: 70% wood cellulose and 30% cotton.

    Longevity and recyclability
Kalle sponge cloths are extremely abrasion-resistant, giving them a long service life. They can be washed repeatedly in a dishwasher or washing machine – even at high temperature with whites. When dry, they retain their flexibility and can be used again virtually as new.

    Biodegradability
Once a sponge cloth has reached the end of its useful life, it can be disposed of as regular household waste. In fact, it even qualifies as a compostable material under EN 13432 (certified by ISEGA; January 2011).

  • Energy efficiency

We are also working to help our customers save energy, for example via our value-added casings. These special casings eliminate a number of production steps and thus reduce energy requirements.

    • Remarkable

The biological purification plant at the Kalle-Albert industrial park clears every day about 15,000 m³.
